On a recent trip to Bluffton, SC, to stock up on his stogies at Peaceful Henry’s, Wiley found a new place to eat! The May River Grill. It is well worth the short field trip from Savannah. Introduce yourself to Chef Charlie, the owner, and tell him Wiley told you to visit.
Some of the best fried shrimp we have ever had came out of small carry out restaurant on the corner of Montgomery and Henry Streets. It is called David Cha Crab Seafood House. Understand it is not fine dining…it is just fine eating. Its location may not be in the best neighborhood, but well worth the adventure! Wiley ordered the fried oyster/fried shrimp combo and we both decided the fried shrimp surpassed the oysters. A single order (around $10) is more than enough for two adults. Be sure to ask for extra tartar sauce…as you will need it. Head for one of the beautiful squares in historic Savannah for your picnic! Bon apetit!
Another successful BBQ 101 class was held Monday and Tuesday evenings, January 18 and 19. The first night was devoted to revealing lots of resources, sharing the basics and questions and answers. The second night was “hands on.” The students got to prep pork butts, chicken and ribs. Two students came from Arizona and two from upper New York state!!
Our next class will occur sometime in the Spring. Stay tuned.

Here is a recent email to Wiley’s Championship BBQ….
Greetings!
This past September our family vacationed in Savannah and absolutely enjoyed our experience at Wiley’s Championship BBQ. Our son Ethan Henry particularly liked the smoked corn on the cob. He’s never eaten another cob with quite as much enthusiasm since! I’ve attached some photos of him with your wonderful smoked corn. Thank you for your dedication to the wonderful world of BBQ!
